Not just Arizona but all other bordering states (California, New Mexico, Texas) to Mexico will have unspecified check points with border guards where they can question about your legal residency. It's more to the close proximityof the border and unlike highway 10 as above poster
mentioned.
Highway 8 (Casa Grande to/from San Diego route) do have this check point where you will be stopped by a border guard and will be asked question. Highway 10 (Phoenix to/from Los Angeles has a stationary check point but this is only for check illegal agriculture goods to protect California's argriculture industry. They do not check your residence legality status in USA. Also, they hardly stop you for any reason unless your
drive a rig.
Hope you are not undocumented status for asking this question. If you are, avoid Highway 8 or you may end up in a Federal ICE detention
center with possible deportation back to S. Korea.
